You Will . . .
Position Overview
The IT Project Management Office (PMO) is responsible for the overall reporting and management of the IT portfolio of projects and budget. The PMO ensures projects are executed effectively and efficiently assuring delivery on time, within budget, and within benefits defined by the project. In addition to managing in-flight projects, the PMO team will directly manage the intake of new project requests and lead in the evaluation of new project proposals and prioritization. The PMO also oversees the overall IT department budget, managing and reviewing monthly expenses. Monthly and annual portfolio reporting based on information collected from the project teams will be required, along with monthly budget deliverables.
PMO Director oversees the project portfolio and the project management process including governance, team leadership, tracking and monitoring, prioritization, communication, and quality controls. The PMO Director should have a proven track record of successful project delivery, an ability to improve project management practices and substantial team leadership experience with a focus on team development. This role will communicate to IT leadership on all projects within the program portfolio and overall IT budget status. Communication to business stakeholders will also be required.
While currently out of scope, successful candidates should be comfortable with the possibility that the PMO may be required to develop or manage full life cycle organizational change management in the future or with a third party to successfully deliver larger programs.
Strategy & Planning
- Assisting business and technology leaders with articulating new project ideas
- Forecasting future resource capacity and reporting on existing resource utilization
- Presenting accurate representations of project progress, health, risks, and ongoing challenges
- Leading the annual budgeting process by facilitating and collaborating with IT leaders and Finance
- Identifying and planning continuous improvement opportunities to mature the PMO and its capabilities
Operational Management
- Ensuring the completeness and currency of project and portfolio reporting
- Validating portfolio-level reporting before alerting senior leadership of its availability
- Managing portfolio and project processes to maximize throughput of selected projects
- Ongoing management of the IT budget and cost centers providing monthly review and analysis
- Managing and developing team members consisting of financial / budget personnel and project managers

Qualifications
The Experience You Will Bring (Minimum Requirements):
Formal Education & Certification
- Bachelor’s Degree in the field of information systems and/or project management
- 10-years work experience in project management
- Certifications in Agile and other related project disciplines
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification (unless significant years of experience)
Knowledge & Experience
- Leadership and management of people and teams
- Broad experience in managing high-risk, high-visibility projects
- Specific knowledge of Excel and various project and portfolio management platform(s) required
- Familiarity with budgeting processes or managing a P&L
- Strong understanding of project, portfolio, OCM, and Agile techniques
- Familiarity with the functioning of a PMO and steering committee
- Experience with large company environments is preferred
